Brandeis University is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist to
assist faculty in the use of appropriate and innovative teaching
technologies. The specialist will:
  - learn and make use of off-the-shelf academic software for various
fields and departments, create web pages, WebCT courses, CD-ROMs, and
other appropriate media where necessary;
  - train faculty and students in the use and creation of these tools
where feasible;
  - create and edit digital video, sound, and images;
  - use commercial multimedia applications such as Flash, InDesign,
GoLive, and PhotoShop in the course of creating multimedia resources for
instructors;
  - work with faculty to understand their pedagogical goals and suggest
solutions to pedagogical difficulties;
  - work with other university support staff, such as library and
administrative personnel, to create and support university-wide systems
to improve instruction;
  - work in a busy resource center helping respond to e-mail, phone
calls, and drop-in clients; and
  - devise plans and budgets that keep projects on time and on schedule.

The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills to work effectively
with ITS colleagues, University staff, and external vendors; excellent
oral and written communication skills, and possess a strong customer
service orientation.  The candidate must have the ability to reduce
complicated processes into the simplest possible series of steps, and
must have the ability to teach.  The ideal candidate would have done
some graduate work, be familiar with the higher education environment,
and show good technical aptitude.
