Dear Colleagues,
Registration for WorldCALL 2003, the World Conference on Computer-Assisted
Language Learning, May 6 through 10, is now open on the web through
<http://worldcall2003.org>http://worldcall2003.org where more information
about the conference is available. Rooms at the Banff Centre can also be
booked online.
WorldCALL2003 promises to be an exciting conference, with lots going on,
excellent facilities, distinguished keynotes and a wonderfully varied menu
of presentations from around the world. Here is some of the latest news:
A large number of proposals have been received from 50 different
countries. The Program committee has almost finished the task of making
the final selection.
Early bird registration fees of CAN$450 (approx. US$290/295 euros) include
four full days of conference, all lunches and coffee breaks, an opening
reception, a pub crawl and a banquet. Fees will increase for registrations
after February 15, 2003 to CAN$575 (approx. US$367/376 euros). The special
student rate of CAN$200 (approx. US$128/131 euros) also includes the full
conference package. A trip to Lake Louise and a gondola ride (up a
mountain$B7) are also being organized.
Banff is a hive of activity $F6 sporting, cultural and social $F6 at all times
of the year. We are preparing a summary of events and other activities,
which will be available on the website soon and then updated. Spectacular
skiing is possible until the latter half of May and we will of course
include information about this.
We are delighted to confirm that four distinguished colleagues will be
delivering keynote addresses at the conference. They are: Peter Austin,
now at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London;
Carl Blyth, University of Texas at Austin, who will speak on Managing
Change and the Impact of CALL; Michel Laurier, Université de Montréal, who
will speak on Evaluation and Multimedia; and Mark Warshauer, University of
California, Irvine, who will speak on CALL and Human and Social
Development. The topic of Dr. Austin, a specialist in endangered languages,
is still maturing. More detailed information about the keynote speakers
will be available on the website.
The WorldCALL local organizing committee is looking forward to providing

Nous avons reçu de très nombreuses propositions provenant d$E2une
cinquantaine de pays. Le comité scientifique est sur le point de
déterminer la sélection finale.
Les frais d'inscription payés avant le 15 février 2003 sont de 450$CAN

distingués en tant que conférenciers d$E2honneur. Il s$E2agit de Peter Austin,
