Sorry for the HTML-post. Here's that message again.
Carine
Daniel,
We bought the Sharp DV-NC60 VCR/DVD Combo from www.world-import.com (or www.220giftcenter.com). It's
both region-free and multi-standard! It's a pricey piece of equipment ($540 w/free shipping), but likely not a
lot more than a multi-standard VCR + region-free DVD. Plus it saves us the hassle (and $$$) of connecting multiple video inputs
to one TV. We've had 2 for about 6 months with no problems (the dual-use remote control is a little overwhelming at
first). CAVEAT: According to the specs: "Playback of PAL VHS or DVD movies requires a video converter or a
PAL TV. Playback of NTSC DVDs also requires a video converter or a PAL TV." Not sure why a converter is
needed in both instances. We have our units connect to multistandard TVs so I can't tell you if in fact they work
OK for NTSC or PAL on an NTSC TV.
Regards,
Carine
