Dear Colleagues:

This is a reminder that the DigitalStream 2003 Conference proposal
submission deadline is approaching.  Please submit your proposal by
December 15th at:  http://csumb.edu/digitalstream/2003/proposal.html

California University Monterey Bay invites you to join Education's
DigitalStream Emerging Technologies in Teaching Languages and Cultures 5th
annual conference, to be held March 20-22, 2003 on the CSU Monterey Bay
campus in Seaside, California. 

Our theme for 2003 is:  Languages on the Edge! Implications of Emerging
Technologies for Teaching Languages & Cultures

Call For Proposals

Subject areas include:

*  Technology Applications and Integration in the Language Classroom
*  Strategies and Activities for Using Technology in the Language Class 
*  The Use of Technology in Language Proficiency Assessment
*  Language Learning Lab Management and Issues
*  Distance & On Line Language Learning 
*  Technology Enhanced Teaching of Heritage Languages and Cultures.
*  Technology Application for Teaching Languages at Risk.
*  Creating Effective Virtual Language Learning Environments and Issues
*  Workshops and Demonstrations of the Use of Technology in Teaching
Language and Cultures
*  Research on Language Learning and Technology


Proposal Guidelines

*  Proposals will be limited to a 150-word abstract.
*  Initial proposal should be submitted no later than December 15, 2002
*  Presenters will be required to submit a final revised manuscript for
printing in our published proceedings on March 13th, 2003.

Please note:

*  Each session room will be equipped with a multimedia projector, screen,
white board and lavaliere or standing microphone. All other equipment must
be requested and arranged for through a Technical Needs request which will
be available online.
*  CSU Monterey Bay has wireless capability in most of our conference
facilities.
*  Presenters must arrive prepared with any presentation materials (35-40
handouts per session).
*  Presenter registration fees will be discounted on behalf of the
conference, but CSUMB cannot reimburse presenters' travel expenses.

All language teachers (K-16) are encouraged to submit proposals.
