>Date: Thu, 7 Nov 2002 12:27:10 -0500

Washington & Jefferson College invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of New Media Technologies in the Information Technology Leadership Department.

The goal of the ITL department is to produce graduates who can assume a leadership role in the use of information technology regardless of their career paths. This is an exceptional opportunity for a new or established scholar to help shape a new, interdisciplinary major in information technology within a liberal arts environment, and to advance the department's further mission of integrating the teaching and learning of new technologies across the curriculum.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher and active researcher in the field of New Media, and will have the responsibility of developing a New Media Technologies emphasis within the ITL major. Specific areas of expertise or interest should include graphic arts, streaming media, and Flash-based animation. Candidates should have extensive experience with Adobe and Macromedia products, and should be willing to participate in an online learning initiative sponsored by ITL. A Ph.D. in a field closely aligned with the evolving discipline of New Media Technologies is preferred. Experience teaching in a liberal arts environment is also desirable. Preliminary inquiries can be directed to Charles Hannon, ITL Chair. Interested candidates can also consult the ITL website for more information.

A letter of application, statement of teaching and research philosophy, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references, should be sent to the New Media Technologies Search, Washington and Jefferson College, 60 S. Lincoln Street, Washington, PA 15301. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2002.
