We did a similar solution. We ran a cable extender to the top of the 
computer where it was cable-tied to a cable-tie mount. Those are little 1" 
squares that peel-and-stick and have a loop at the top to run the cable-tie 
through. We stuck those on the top of the computer near the front and 
cable-tied the end of the extender cable there. Worked great.
