ADVERTISEMENT FOR POSITION  OF LLC DIRECTOR


 Allegheny College, a selective national liberal arts college in northwest
Pennsylvania, is seeking a skilled professional with expertise in
educational technology and a modern foreign language (preferably Chinese or
Japanese but other languages will be carefully considered) to serve as
Director of the Blair Hanson Language Learning Center and teach initially
two language courses per year.  With experience and the advice of the
department, responsibility for language instruction may be increased.  This
is a 3-year, renewable, non-tenure track appointment at the assistant
professor level, beginning July 1, 2003.  PhD or ABD preferred; demonstrated
expertise in technology as applied to language learning required.  Principal
responsibilities are (1) supervision of a language learning center and
computerized laboratory, (2) development of resources for the center, (3)
training and support of faculty in improving language  instruction through
the use of technology, and (4)  language teaching.

competence, and educational philosophy, and three letters of recommendation
