>Subject: call for papers

------------------
This is a second call for proposals for a collection of essays to be
included in the forthcoming volume, Best Practices for Using Technology
to Teach and to Learn in the Foreign Language Classroom.
Proposals for short essays related to this topic as they apply to any
and all
language courses are welcome (e.g. second-language learning, teacher
education, linguistics, ESL, etc.). Essays should address innovative
uses of instructional technology such as:

*       chat
*       webquests
* web delivery platforms (webCT, blackboard, etc.)
*       e-mail projects
*       MOOs
*       telecollaborative practices
*       student publishing
*       CD-Roms
*       online textbooks/workbooks
*       virtual reality
*       wireless projects

Essays should be practical and illustrate how technology is being used
in the language classroom for successful teaching and learning. Concrete
illustrations (complete activities, digital video, digital photos,
screen shots of the best practice, etc.) of successful strategies and
practices in action are encouraged with final papers.
Please forward this call to colleagues in other departments/divisions
at your institution, as you deem appropriate. We are currently
negotiating with a reputable publisher and it is our hope to include in
this volume a collection of approximately 15 essays outlining best
practices for using technology in the foreign-language classroom (along
with a companion website).
Abstracts should be 200 words, for essays that will be 4-8 pages in
length, double-spaced.
Send proposals by October 30, 2002, to:

-and-
Jessamine Cooke-Plagwitz [log in to unmask]

For accepted proposals, full manuscripts will be due by February 1,
2003.
