>Subject: Re: #6848 Item Checkout Database Software

------------------
The Language Labs at the University of Chicago is beginning a
barcoding tracking system. The data are tracked in FileMaker. We
print our own barcodes, and have come up with a coding scheme for our
audio materials which reflects the many different formats some of our
material is in. When patrons come in, we scan their University ID
(unfortunately we are not yet able to connect to the larger databases
on campus, so we have to enter the user name etc by hand), then scan
the item barcode. When they leave, all we have to do is scan the ID
again, FileMaker does the rest.
