The STARLINK professional development network announces a new satellite
teleconference for English for speakers of other languages faculty.

October 8, 2003
"Integrating Technology Into Your ESOL Program"

This teleconference will look at ways in which technology is being used
to increase teaching and learning, not only on campus but also through
the Internet. Examples of best practices, and innovative programs and
ideas will be shown.
Topics to be examined include:
*Advantages and disadvantages of using computer assisted instruction
and/or the Internet in teaching ESOL
*Testing/assessment procedures
*Computer applications
*Use of the Internet for ESOL instruction
*Successful technology programs

Panelists include:
*Randall S Davis
Creator, Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab
Instructor, English Language Institute, University of Utah
*Deborah Healey
Director of the English Language Institute at Oregon State University.
She is the former editor of CAELL Journal, author of "Something to Do on
Tuesday," and a former Chair of the CALL Interest Section of TESOL. Dr.
Healey has written and presented extensively on computer-assisted
language learning (CALL) and administrative uses of computers.
*John Pope
Asst. Director of the English Language Institute, George Mason
University. Dr. Pope is a frequent national presenter and has developed
innovative "hybrid" classes, which facilitates student access and
learning.
