------------------
I use Macs & Quicktime (it also works with windows if you don't like WMP), which play mp3's in the browser window with controls (I use frames, with an index in the left window and the audio files in the right). Quicktime will configure itself to play mp3's with the
browser plugin when you install, or whenever you open the preferences and set the mime types to default, in case another player alters your pref's (real player is notorious for stealing media types).
Netscape opens mp3 as a text files if the file type is not listed in its preferences (under navigator:applications)
