Laura, OS X looks for fonts installed in the OS 9 fonts folder on startup,
so if he had Hindi fonts in there they would show up (the same thing
happens to us with our Hawaiian fonts). This saves you from having to keep
duplicates of every font if you use both OS 9 and OS X on the same machine.

Check to see if the Hindi fonts are still in the OS 9 folder, perhaps he
or someone else removed them thinking that they were no longer necessary
as he was using OS X.
