The following call for proposals to present on Blackboard is open to college
and university faculty, staff and students.  While the conference is not
limited to language people, Blackboard is certainly used widely for language
classes, and participation in the conference could be useful to LLTI
subscribers.  We'd love to see you there!

 BLACKBOARD:  BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS

                        Friday, April 5 - Saturday, April 6, 2002
                                    St. Lawrence University
                                         Canton, NY 13617

 Conference Discussion Topics/Presentation Tracks
   * Critical reflections on Blackboard
   * The impact of Blackboard on Student Learning
   * Ethics and the use of Blackboard
   * Distance Learning
   * Issues of intellectual property
   * Blackboard as a tool for enriching student interaction
   * Avoiding technical pitfalls
   * Tips and tricks
   * Creating community with portals
   * Issues for campus Blackboard administrators
   * Student perspectives
   * Hands on training in advanced uses of Blackboard

 Blackboard:  Building a Community of Learners is funded by a grant from the
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for the St. Lawrence University Technology for
Teaching Project and is also sponsored by the St. Lawrence University Center
for Teaching and Learning,

   * No registration fee
   * Open to college and university faculty, students, and staff members
   * Individual and team presentations, roundtables, and hands on training
   * Meals provided on campus by St. Lawrence University (dinner Friday and
breakfast and lunch Saturday)
  * Undergraduate and graduate student participation encouraged
  * Housing costs covered for student presenters
  * Team presentations encouraged

          PROPOSAL DEADLINE:  FEBRUARY 25, 2002

 Proposals should include an abstract of the presentation and information on
the equipment required.  Please submit proposals electronically at
