Assistant Professor of Spanish 


Full-time tenure-track position. Responsibilities include teaching 
Spanish language, literature, and civilization at all levels. Ability 
to teach first-year courses in a second language offered by the 
department - - Portuguese, French, Japanese, German - - is highly 
desirable. Portuguese preferred. Applicants should possess a native 
or near-native command of the Spanish language and should show a 
genuine commitment to undergraduate teaching and program development. 
Familiarity with proficiency-based instruction and residence/study in 
a Spanish-speaking country a plus. Applicants should also be computer 
literate and familiar with CALL. Salary competitive and commensurate 
with qualifications. Qualifications: A Master's degree in Spanish is 
required; a Doctoral degree is preferred. To apply: Send letter of 
application, statement of teaching philosophy, current vita and full 
dossier (including three letters of recommendation) to: Dr. Stephen 
Mohler, Spanish Search Committee, Modern Foreign Languages,
