Dear Ursula,

This is from http://www.cal.org/nclrc/caidlr25.htm

MOPI
The acronym MOPI refers to the modified version of the ACTFL OPI
(Modified OPI). The modification does not actually occur in the
assessment procedure, which is the same as the OPI. What is different is
the tester training. ACTFL offers a modified version of the full OPI
tester training workshop designed for language instructors who teach and
test primarily at the ACTFL Novice and Intermediate levels. Following
this workshop, participants may apply to become ACTFL OPI Testers with
Limited Certification, which means that they may only officially test
examinees at those levels. While for full certification OPI testers must
themselves demonstrate proficiency at the Superior level on the ACTFL
scale, for this limited certification testers need only be at the ACTFL
Advanced level.

For further information on modified OPI test training, see ACTFL's web
site at www.actfl.org.

Colleagues, ever have one of those moments when you wonder whether
you've slid into a parallel universe? I'm having one. Please help me
get back! I'm pretty sure I heard a reference to a Modified Oral
Proficiency Interview, or MOPI. Now my normally trustworthy google
can't find it. We're looking at some alternatives, like COPI
(computerized) and SOPI (simulated), but so far MOPI seems to exist
only in my imagination. Help?
