And I am with you both:  Personal contact is preferable.  However, we have
so many students taking languages that it is impossible for me to greet
everyone/every class personally.  Beginning language learners get a quick
intro and tour from their TA's/instructors (the clip is meant as a way to
help the instructor introduce the audiolab procedures in a fun and
informative way), and as something to come back to in case one has
forgotten the details or missed the intro session at the beginning of the
quarter. The instructors get the personal treatment from me, and hopefully
let it trickle on to the students.

I had a number of requests from people to have a look at the .mpg I
decribed in my earlier posting, so I made it available (for a limited time
only) via the web.
