>Subject: [Fwd: wireless headphones for TV]

I was asked to post responses in the listserv, since others were
interested in receiving the same information.

I tried some Radio Shack ones, for less money, and there was an
irritating hum or buzz present. (I
know that Radio Shack's wireless audio equipment is inferior.) But I'm
now wondering if we have too many video and computer sources, as well as
fluorescent lights which would affect any kind of system. When the
college replaced all fluorescent lights with energy saving ones, the
ballasts in the replacements actually operated our satellite receivers.
I spent countless hours working with the lighting people and the
satellite vendors to try to resolve the problem, so I know that it can
affect things. I do not know how it was resolved; I believe they changed
ballasts, but am not sure.

If anyone has experience with Sondheim or other brands of wireless
headphone sets in an environment such as mine, please let me know how
they work. Thanks....Leslie Graul

Hi there, Marianne. How's your summer going? Are you working much?

Was it you who told me or (do you know anything) about a way to have
students watch video materials with wireless headphones? I have seen
some at Radio Shack and our fitness center has purchased a different
kind. The latter are "out" because each student has to have an FM
radio. Radio Shack's cost about $119 per pair, and require several
batteries, which may be rechargeable.

Do you have information about anything different?

Enjoy the sunshine! See you later........Leslie
