We switched textbooks from "Alles Gute" to "Wie Geht's" last fall for
our beginning German classes, and the feedback has been very
good. There are two interactive CD-ROM programs--one is full of
reading, writing, speaking and listening activities, the other is a
Dasher type of program for practicing grammar. Both students and
professors really like the materials, and have been gradually
increasing the use of the multimedia CD-ROMs and decreasing the
use of the listening audio tapes.

Regards,
Sue

Hello,
We are in the process of selecting a new Introductory German
textbook.
In so doing, we want to pay attention to the technology associated
with the text. I'm soliciting feedback regarding texts used in your
institution. What do you have that you like? What should I avoid?
I've discovered many texts have Web sites associated with them but
they're quite varied in quality (and the number of broken links). I'd
love to use a book that has a decent interactive CD-ROM with it.
(Incidentally, if anyone out there uses Neue Horizonte, please
explain
the difference between the Computer Study Modules and the Neue
Horizonte NOW! CD-ROM. The explanations on the Web are insufficient.)
It would probably be useful to know that our classes meet 3
times/week with an additional 2 meetings/week for lab. (We eliminated
Kontakte because it didn't fit well into this structure).

If sufficient interest exists, I'll summarize the feedback and post
back to the group.

Vielen Dank!
