okay, this program is probably better than what i've written.  though, i don't have the time or the interest to look at it right now.  for those of you that weren't able to hear anything in the website i gave you, what you need to do is to download liveaudio plugin. the liveaudio plugin is a javascript capable plug-in.  in order to make it so that the students could only play each sound once during the test, we needed something like this plug-in.  

you need to make sure that you set the preferences in the browser so that any .aiff file or .au or any sound file  type(to be on the safe side) is handled by the liveaudio plug-in.

Also, it works much better if all the audio files are already installed on the computer.  good luck.
