Just a reminder about the upcoming (April 12, 2001) satellite teleconference on linguistics, pedagogy, and technology use. Detailed information is below in the form of the formal announcement.
If you or your technicians encounter problems with the downlink, contact Johnny at 1-919-660-7208.
The length of the broadcast is one hour, i.e. 2 - 3 PM EDT.
If you are interested in purchasing a VHS/NTSC copy (cost = tape + postage) of the program, contact me after April 13, 2001, via e-mail [log in to unmask] . I will have your tape prepared immediately and will mail it to you as soon as I receive your check made out for the required amount and made out to Washington and Lee University. I will let you know the amount upon receipt of your request.
Additional good news. The teleconference is also being carried on SCOLA channel 2 and will be video streamed world wide off of the SCOLA web page http://scola.org . Thank you SCOLA!

The teleconference is to be broadcast over the North American continent free of charge to any and all interested parties, educators, and otherwise. It is being labeled a Baker's Dozen Roundtable Discussion and is to be an assemblage of thirteen experts in the fields of applied linguistics, pedagogy, and/or technology who promote technology's use in the broad spectrum of teaching methodologies and who will respond to and comment upon questions and statements from viewers regarding approaches to technology as well as methods, applicability, feasibility, productivity, and frugality of technology.
Emphasis in the discussion will be (1) theory and practice in technology, (2) expected and assured outcomes with technology use, (3) the changes in knowledge acquisition as it pertains to the technological interface, and (4) technology as a transparent tool and/or method.
Questions and statements are being solicited from potential viewers beginning 12 March 2001, and these questions and statements will be the basis for the discussion and commentary by the Baker's Dozen Roundtable Discussion.
