NOTICE OF VACANCY
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT II/ LANGUAGE LAB COORDINATOR
 ENGLISH & ESL DIVISION
FULL TIME AFSCME POSITION WITH FULL BENEFITS
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES. The technical Assistant II installs and
operates language laboratory equipment; maintains, calibrates and adjusts
equipment such as audio visual consoles, computer and other peripherals. In
addition, the Technical Assistant II is responsible for supervising the
general operations of the laboratory to include conducting training sessions
for faculty, staff and students, planning for additional improvements and
providing better service to students.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Dean of the English and ESOL Division

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provide supervision and direction for the Work-Study
Students

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (Not intended to be an exhaustive list)
1. Establishes and updates inventory for equipment and supplies.
2. Fills out and expedites processing of purchase requisitions for supplies
and major repairs.
3. Monitors the use of equipment and supplies to enhance security.
4. Perform weekly maintenance to ensure proper function of laboratory
equipment as well as performing regular preventive
maintenance.
5. Perform minor repairs on equipment as necessary to ensure smooth
operation of the lab.
 6. Supports instructional activities by operating of the equipment.
7. Adjusts, installs and calibrates repaired equipment such as audio
cassette decks and computers; supervises the implementation of repair
service by outside vendors.
8. Coordinates and monitors student activities during open laboratory
sessions to include assigning appropriate student materials for independent
laboratory study, and providing technical and instructional support as
needed.
9. Designs and implements language laboratory operational procedures.
10. Designs and compiles individual sign up forms to record independent
laboratory usage.
11.. Coordinates the utilization schedule of laboratory for classes and
individual students.
12. Prepares materials to be used by faculty and students in the laboratory.
13. Cleans and maintains laboratory areas to maintain suitable environment
for learning.
14. Catalog all print and non-print resource materials; distributes catalog
to faculty.
15. Participates in preparation of budgets and other administrative concerns
that may impact the language learning laboratory. 16. Confers with
professional staff and faculty concerning methods and procedures to exchange
information.
17. Organizes and implements training sessions for faculty on the use of
laboratory equipment and procedures.
18. Trains and supervise work -study student employees to assist faculty and
students in daily operation of the laboratory.
19. Perform related duties such as maintaining records of lab schedules,
maintenance and repairs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 2 years of full time, or equivalent part-time experience in
technical work supporting instructional activities, or the equivalent
combination of experience and educational credentials such as Associate's
degree with a major in computer science, electronics or related field.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.

HOURS AND DAYS OF WORK: Full time of 37.5 hours per week and according to
the schedules of the Laboratory's open hours.

START DATE: immediately

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Application review will continue until the position is

SALARY RANGE: Grade 13  $25,158.64 to $ 32,758.96
