Michigan State University is accepting applications for the following
position.


Director of the Language Learning Center

The College of Arts and Letters is seeking a Director of its Language Learning
Center.  The annual-year position will begin August 16, 2001.  The Director
will hold the rank of Academic Specialist and be appointed for a five-year
fixed term with the possibility of renewal contingent on performance, program
needs, and the availability of funding.  Salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience.

Qualifications for the position include:
·       Master's degree, doctorate preferred, in an area relevant to position
responsibilities
·       Experience teaching a modern foreign language or English as a second
language
·       Experience in developing computer-assisted, web-based and multimedia
language learning materials
·       Familiarity with language learning software and hardware
·       Near native proficiency in one of the languages taught at MSU
·       Administrative experience
·       Ability to interact well with faculty, staff, and students

The Director will report to the Dean and be responsible for    
·       Managing daily operations of the Center 
·       Overseeing the LLC budget and participating in the regular Annual
Program Planning & Review process   
·       Supervising support staff  
·       Providing leadership in the development of technology-based materials
and programming 
·       Encouraging and assisting language faculty and graduate students in
the
use of computerized and multimedia materials in their classes and research 
·       Exploring and coordinating outreach opportunities with Michigan
secondary school teachers
