Language Resource Center


The University of Mississippi seeks a full-time (12-month appointment)
Director of the Language Resource Center to work closely with the chair and
faculty of the Department of Modern Languages. The successful candidate
will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Center.
Responsibilities include support of faculty in their teaching of foreign
languages through effective and pedagogically-sound integration of
technology, and assistance in the development of multimedia products for
foreign language instruction. The successful candidate must have the
ability to seek and obtain resources for the long-range planning and
development of the Center. Applicants will demonstrate expertise in
instructional technologies, experience in one or more markup languages
(e.g., HTML or SGML) for document representation, and experience with
Windows and Macintosh platforms. Knowledge of one or more languages other
than English, excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication
skills, and ability to supervise support staff required.

Applicants should hold an advanced degree with a strong foundation in both
language teaching and technology. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
Starting date: No later than July 1, 2001.
