------------------
Conference Announcement

Rice University in Houston, Texas will be hosting IALL 2001 from
May 22 to May 26. This is the first time IALL will be held in this region
of the United States. We hope it will attract many new members or current
members who have not yet been able to attend our international conferences
because of cost and/or distance.
IALL 2001 is the first IALL conference of the century. Plan on seeing
some of the most advanced projects available in the field of language
learning technology.
Rice's wooded campus is located in the nation's fourth-largest city on
America's South Coast. It is one of the top private universities in the
U.S. with 2700 undergraduates and 1500 graduate students.
The Rice campus is adjacent to the Museum District, Houston Zoo,
Hermann Park, the Texas Medical Center and Rice Village. We are located 10
minutes from downtown, the Theatre District, Enron Field (new baseball
stadium), the Astrodome and Astroworld. NASA is thirty minutes away and
Galveston on the Gulf of Mexico is an hour away. To entertain our
participants and their family members we are planning outings to a
baseball game, a theater performance, NASA and Galveston.
The choice of accommodations is between the newly renovated
Warwick Hotel, half a mile from Rice, or rooms in the Rice colleges
(dormitories).
The call for proposals is forthcoming and will be posted
here. Question on IALL 2001 can be sent to the following address:

We look forward to welcoming you and plan on offering some of the best
presentations in the field.
