>Subject: MWALL Fall 2000

------------------
We are pleased to announce that the Fall 2000 MWALL meeting (Midwest Association for Language Learning Technology) will be held Oct 13-14, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The theme, "Digital Directions," should be of interest to anyone trying to keep up with the changing language technology scene.

For details on the conference, and to register or submit presentation proposals, please see http://iall.net/mwall/

Although right now is a busy time of the year for all of you, please take a few minutes NOW to check out the conference info. In particular, the hotels have relatively early deadlines (one is Aug 30!). The deadline for presentation proposals is Sept 15. And the deadline for early registration is Sept 30.

Also, consider what you have to offer and share with your colleagues. Some possible topics might include:
* Preparing digital classroom materials (e.g., video or sound in PowerPoint lecture)
* Using CD, DVD, or laserdisc in the lab or classroom
* Virtual Lab delivery of materials (web, streaming video or audio, etc.)
* Collection Management issues for the digital world (including copyright, licensing, preservation of materials, etc.)
* Accessibility issues (web, video captioning, etc.)

One topic, videoconferencing, will be the subject of a live virtual session between MWALL (at Wisconsin) and NERALLD (at Tufts) which are meeting at the same time.

Plus, lots of great food (much of it included in the low conference registration fee), and a great group of folks to spend a couple of days with.

See you in October!!

For more information, or questions about the conference, see the contact persons at http://iall.net/mwall/
