Assistant Education Specialist (Chinese Language Teaching and
Technology) CLA Language Center and Department of Asian Languages and
Literatures, University of Minnesota. Duties include: teach 2-3 courses of
Chinese language (Mandarin) per year or equivalent developmental
projects; develop training and instructional materials for using
technology in the teaching of language; collect, evaluate and disseminate
information on technology resources (video, software, Internet, etc.) for
language teaching. Essential qualifications: Master=D5s degree or ABD in a
relevant field, native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English; a
minimum of two years of Chinese language teaching experience; excellent
organizational and communication skills. Desired qualifications: a minimum
of two years of Chinese language teaching in an American university; prior
experience with technology in language teaching, prior experience in
teacher development and higher education administration. 100% twelve month
academic professional position to begin August 1, 2000. Salary: $32,000
(100%, twelve months)
