Here at Texas Tech:
Lab Director is considered an administrative position, with a 12-month
appointment. Since the lab is a service department directly tied to the
conduction of classes, we are not open during major holidays. While I may
come and go during these times, I generally take the entire time off
{several weeks at Christmas, all of Spring Break, and as I can, time
between intersessions}. This is not a problem with my administration, and
is often encouraged! I'm a "recovering workaholic" :) so I've developed
an appreciation for time away.
Hope this information helps.
Cheers--
Phade :)
