Job Title:  Instructional Computing Specialist, Language Resource Center

Grade: 56

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs systems administration for video
server including creating user accounts, maintaining security, installing
system upgrades, monitoring performance, and maintaining back-ups; assists
foreign language faculty with the development and procurement of
instructional software; maintains the faculty resource room and provides
technical support to faculty users; creates, maintains, and updates the
language lab World Wide Web pages and the front end to the media server;
supervises a staff of student/casual employees; and maintains usage data
and prepares reports.


Requirements: Candidate should possess one year (two or more years
preferred) of UNIX experience, an understanding of troubleshooting
microcomputer hardware and software (Mac and Windows), the ability to work
collaboratively with a range of constituents, and the willingness to work
on a variety of projects and related assignments.  Preference given to
candidates with advanced knowledge of at least one multimedia programming
package (Director or Authorware) or high level programming language and
experience creating Web sites with HTML.  Experience with one or more of
the following is required: project management, advanced HTML, Java,
database programming, and programming educational software.  Ability to
speak and write in a foreign language is highly desirable.  A college
degree with a computer science concentration or equivalent experience is
required.
