We are considering a "technology fee" rather than a lab fee. It would
apply once a semester to each and every student taking a course in the
Foreign Languages Department. Rationale: it helps defray maintenance,
upgrading, securing, and day to day operation of ALL technology delivery
(slide and overhead projectors, TV/VCRs, audio-only console, tape
duplication, tape recorder/players, and future computers, etc.), none of
which is budgeted. We don't even have lab assistants in our budget and
have to find a way of servicing the students' needs, or go out of
business.
