Hmmm.  Perhaps the reason catamounts disappeared from New England   is  
that Mr. Jones ("Pied Piper of Vermont")  enticed them all to follow  
him to Canada when he disappeared.

   On the other hand, the picture shown appears more current and could  
possibly have been snapped during recent attempts to lure moose within  
range of the blind concealing his wife  soas to help tide them over  
the current economic downturn.

Further, since there would be no conflict in the time frames and the  
legendary Mr. Jones is reputed to have aged very gracefully,  perhaps  
both scenarios are possible.
