Thanks to Susan, Mike, Dave, Art, and Dan for your responses to myquery about an
Upper Valley checklist.

Collectively, I have learned that the Montshire was selling them for $.25 five
years ago (and may still be), Dick Holmes (or someone at Dartmouth) had them in
the mid-sixties complete with approximate arrival dates for the period 1900 -
1950's (hey, those are my years!), there might be an old one hanging around for
New Jersey birds, NH Audubon has one for NH birds and VINS for VT birds, and I
was workng on one which I never completed circa 1980.

I do think there is a need for an up-to-date one given the addition of a number
of species in the past thirty years. When I was a starting birder I found it
very helpful, not only for keeping records of birdwalks, but more importantly
for putting birds in their proper categories.

I will resurrect my project (Art take note).

Finally, do I remember correctly that Chris Rimmer and Kent McFarland were
starting a project on arrival dates? If so, I think the checklist that Mike
Smith referred to with arrival dates for 1900 to 1950 would be of interest to
them. Those dates have changed dramatically for a lot of species since 1950.

Mike
