I believe that the Ct. River Valley is a flyway for Hummingbirds.  They do 
migrate well into Canada.
A lady wrote a book about Hummingbird Winter.  She found a HB looking for 
food after a hard frost, she managed to get it into her sunroom where she 
kept it alive all winter.  She let it go on a warm day in March that next 
spring.
