Hello, we're wondering how to balance the caution about protecting the
health and safety of bears with the needs of birds at this
transitional time. Experts, advise, please.

K:

There's nothing in there about the needs of birds that have become
dependent on those feeders. I wonder if the wildlife services are not
more concerned about their bears then the birds. I vote for keeping
the feeder going another week or two. The birds are actually eating
less, and letting us know that they are becoming less dependent on the
sunfllower seeds. This should make an easy transition.
