2 - American Woodcocks displaying their aerial antics in the small shrubby field across from our driveway on Storrs Hill this evening. I had flushed another Woodcock @ the top of the hill on my Monday evening walk.
Another delayed report on a quick stop by Signal Hill lower field yesterday. Standing by the kiosk, I enjoyed watching a handsome male Northern Harrier cruising along the crest of the field, hovering in a couple spots and then suddenly dropping out of sight. He reappeared in a few seconds with a yummy plump vole in his talons, and continued nonchalantly along his way. All in a good day's work.
Also spotted my FOY YB Sapsucker yesterday in our yard, sucking sap from a sugar maple that he had made a row of holes in.
