This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, July 24th, 
2012.



2 MISSISSIPPI KITES were seen from Gonet Road in Newmarket on July 16th.



A PARASITIC JAEGER was reported from coastal Rye waters on July 20th.



A SEDGE WREN was seen on private property in North Sandwich on July 16th, 
17th, and 18th, and a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from the same area on 
the 18th.



A RED KNOT, 2 WHIMBRELS, 4 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and over 500 TREE SWALLOWS 
were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 19th.

A STILT SANDPIPER and a NELSON'S SPARROW were seen in the northeast corner 
of Hampton Marsh in the location know as Henry's Pool on July 19th, and 12 
SALTMARSH SPARROWS were reported from Hampton Marsh on the 21st.



Birders on a Granite State Whale Watch cruise out of Rye Harbor on July 21st 
reported 30 GREAT SHEARWATERS, 5 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 325 WILSON'S 
STORM-PETRELS, 5 NORTHERN GANNETS, and 35 COMMON TERNS all seen in New 
Hampshire waters.



A pair of BLACK GUILLEMOTS has nested on White Island, one of the Isles of 
Shoals, but it appears the nesting attempt has failed.



12 ROSEATE TERNS and a PEREGRINE FALCON were reported from Hampton Harbor on 
July 21st.



60 COMMON TERNS were seen in Rye Harbor on July 21st.



9 GREAT EGRETS, 14 SNOWY EGRETS, and 4 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were 
reported from the coast on July 21st.



17 BLACK SCOTERS were reported from coastal Rye on July 21st.



4 SORAS and several VIRGINIA RAILS were reported from a wetland adjacent to 
the Merrimack River in Hudson on July 21st.



A RED CROSSBILL was seen in Hancock on July 24th.

A LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH was reported from Durham and one was reported from 
Lee, both on July 22nd.



2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen on Dana Hill Road in New Hampton on July 22nd.



A MERLIN was seen in Concord, and 2 were seen in Rumney, all on July 24th.



A flock of 10 immature BALTIMORE ORIOLES was seen in New Hampshire Audubon's 
Ponemah Bog Sanctuary in Amherst on July 19th.
