This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, November 
16th, 2011.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen with a group of TURKEY VULTURES near the 
intersection of Giles Road and Route 108 in Exeter on November 14th.



A SNOWY OWL was seen in Hampton Marsh on November 12th.



A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen at a private residence in Rochester on 
November 14th, and one was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on the 
12th.



A FORSTER'S TERN was seen near Great Boar's Head in Hampton on November 
15th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in the Concord Community Gardens located off of 
Route 13 in Concord on November 15th and 16th, and one was seen at the Green 
Wagon Farm in Keene on November 12th.



A SNOW GOOSE and 105 AMERICAN COOTS were seen on Great Bay from the Great 
Bay Discovery Center in Greenland on November 13th.



12 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at the Dillant-Hopkins Airport in Keene on 
November 13th, and 9 were reported from Derry on the 15th.



6 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen in Rye on November 12th, and 3 were seen in 
Keene on November 11th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, a GRAY JAY, and 50 PINE SISKINS were seen along 
the Mud Pond Trail at the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson 
on November 11th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen on the Little Cherry Pond trail, and 4 
BUFFLEHEADS, 6 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 2 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 5 RING-NECKED 
DUCKS, 3 COMMON MERGANSERS, a GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and 2 MALLARDS were seen on 
Cherry Pond, all at the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on 
November 12th.



A NORTHERN PINTAIL and 6 BUFFLEHEAD were seen on Little Squam Lake on 
November 11th, and a NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen on the Squam River on the 
14th.



A RED-NECKED GREBE, a HORNED GREBE, and 2 AMERICAN COOT were seen on Squam 
Lake on November 11th.



3 RED-NECKED GREBES, a LONG-TAILED DUCK, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, a 
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, and 2 BUFFLEHEADS were seen on Spofford Lake on 
November 13th.



36 HORNED GREBES and 13 COMMON GOLDENEYE were seen on Lake Winnipesaukee on 
November 14th.



122 RUDDY DUCKS were seen at the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
November 14th. The treatment plant is gated and the hours of operation are 
7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you visit, please check in at the office and be 
out of the plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not have to ask birders 
to leave. Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the road. The Trails at 
Pickering Ponds, located east of the plant, are not gated, and are always 
open during daylight hours.



6 AMERICAN COOT and a RUDDY DUCK were reported from Derry on November 15th, 
and an AMERICAN COOT was seen on Horseshoe Pond in Concord on November 15th 
and 16th.



52 COMMON MERGANSERS were seen at Surry Lake in Surry, and 97 RING-NECKED 
DUCKS were seen at Tolman Pond in Nelson, all on November 13th.



A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, 5 RING-NECKED DUCKS, and 10 COMMON GOLDENEYE were 
reported from Newfound Lake on November 11th.



A PURPLE SANDPIPER was seen in Hampton on November 13th.



A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen at Meadow Pond in Hampton on November 
12th.



An "IPSWICH" SAVANNAH SPARROW was seen in Derry on November 15th.



A NASHVILLE WARBLER was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on November 
12th.



A flock of 50 PINE SISKINS was seen in Webster on November 13th.



A HOUSE WREN was seen in Antrim in early November.



14 BOREAL CHICKADEES were tallied on the Caps Ridge Trail in Jefferson Notch 
on November 15th.
