This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, July 26th, 
2011.



A male RED PHALAROPE was seen on Grafton Pond in Grafton on July 17th.



A BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and an ICELAND GULL were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 
23rd.



3 CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 3 GREAT SHEARWATERS, 4 MANX SHEARWATERS, over 200 
WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 5 ROSEATE TERNS, a PARASITIC JAEGER, 11 NORTHERN 
GANNETS, 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, 3 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 5 LEAST 
SANDPIPERS, and 10 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were counted by birders on a 
Granite State Whale Watch cruise out of Rye Harbor on July 23rd.



2 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 7 GREAT EGRETS, 13 SNOWY EGRETS, a BLACK-BELLIED 
PLOVER, 50 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 2 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, 12 GREATER 
YELLOWLEGS, 41 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 2 WHIMBRELS, 8 SANDERLINGS, 175 
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 8 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 52 
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 23 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 11 ROSEATE TERNS, and 140 
COMMON TERNS were seen along the coast on July 23rd.



A female RUDDY DUCK has been reported from the Exeter Wastewater Treatment 
Plant several times during the past week.



6 GREAT EGRETS were seen in Pittsfield on July 26th.



A female SPRUCE GROUSE was seen foraging along the road edge on Route 16 in 
Errol about 4.3 miles north of Eames Garage on July 25th.



At least 2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were reported from the Caps Ridge Trail 
in Jefferson Notch on July 22nd.



4 GRAY JAYS and a BICKNELL'S THRUSH were reported from Mount Waumbek in 
Jefferson on July 24th.



More than 4 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, 4 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, and 2 
LINCOLN'S SPARROWS were reported from Church Pond in Albany on July 21st.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen perched on the water tower located on Route 101 
adjacent to Hampton Marsh on July 22nd.



A SANDHILL CRANE has been present in a meadow located between McNiel and 
Union Hill Roads on Harbor Road in Fryeburg, Maine, close to New Hampshire, 
since July 9th, and was last reported on the 20th.
