This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, July 22nd, 
2009.



A SABINE'S GULL, 2 LEAST TERNS, and 7 ROSEATE TERNS were all reported from 
Hampton Harbor on July 21st, and an adult BLACK-HEADED GULL, an immature 
LITTLE GULL, and a LITTLE BLUE HERON were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 
20th.



A LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen on Sanborn Road in Ashland on July 16th.



2 pairs of MISSISSIPPI KITES nested in Newmarket this spring and summer, 
near the same 2 sites where they nested in 2008. One site is near South Main 
Street west of the public school, and it appears that this nesting attempt 
has failed this year. The other site is along Gonet Road, near where it 
loops back on itself. These birds are in residential areas and if you look 
for them please remember to respect property rights and individual privacy, 
and don't park illegally or block traffic.



2 PIPING PLOVERS were reported from Hampton Beach State Park on July 19th.



A NELSON'S SPARROW was seen in Rye along Route 1A near Odiorne Point State 
Park on July 19th, and breeding of this species was confirmed in Philbrick 
Marsh in North Hampton on July 17th.



4 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES and a BOREAL CHICKADEE were reported from the summit 
of Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch on July 19th.



3 RED CROSSBILLS and 2 BOREAL CHICKADEES were reported from the Hubbard 
Brook Experimental Forest in North Woodstock on July 21st and 2 were 
reported from Sandwich on July 15th.



A WHIMBREL, a LEAST SANDPIPER, 10 PALM WARBLERS, and 9 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS 
were all reported from the Lake Umbagog area on July 19th.



An undetermined THREE-TOED WOODPECKER species, 4 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, 15 
YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS, 4 GRAY JAYS, 17 BOREAL CHICKADEES, 16 PALM 
WARBLERS, 11 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, 6 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, a PINE SISKIN, 
and an EVENING GROSBEAK were all reported from the South Bay Bog area in 
Pittsburg on July 17th.



A family of 5 MERLINS was reported from the Hanover Golf Course on July 
22nd, and a family of 5 MERLINS was reported from Concord on July 18th.



2 PIED-BILLED GREBES was reported from the Nashua River near Hollis on July 
17th.
