This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, May 29th, 
2013.



A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was seen in Hampton on May 29th, but has not been 
relocated.



A WORM-EATING WARBLER was seen at Fort Stark in New Castle on May 25th.



A SUMMER TANAGER was seen at Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newington 
on May 22nd.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was reported from at Short Street at the Pease 
International Tradeport in Newington on May 26th.



A LITTLE GULL was seen among a flock of BONAPARTE’S GULLS in Rye Harbor on 
May 27th.



4 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS were seen in New Castle from Fort Constitution on 
May 22nd.



2 BLACK TERNS were seen at Powder Mill Pond in Hancock on May 29th, and 5 
LEAST TERNS were seen in Seabrook on May 26th.



A COMMON TERN was seen at Spofford Lake in Chesterfield on May 25th.



A LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen in Hampton Harbor on May 24th, and a 
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen at Powderhouse Pond in Exeter on May 
26th.



3 BRANT were seen along the coast on May 24th.



A RED CROSSBILL was seen at Berry Bay in Freedom on May 26th, and 1 was seen 
in the West Branch Pine Barrens in Madison on May 27th.



A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen at the Concord Airport on May 27th.



A NELSON’S SPARROW and 7 SALTMARSH SPARROWS were seen at Chapman’s Landing 
in Stratham on May 27th. Also present were 2 VIRGINIA RAILS.



A GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was seen in Hampton on May 23rd.



3 PURPLE MARTINS were reported from Nashua on May 24th.



A MOURNING WARBLER was seen in Durham on May 26th.



A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS continues to be seen along the forest 
road at the Trudeau Road wetlands in Bethlehem, and was last reported on May 
28th.



At least 6 ORCHARD ORIOLES were seen at the NH Fish & Game Bellamy River 
Wildlife Management Area in Dover on May 27th.



A RUDDY TURNSTONE, 9 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, and a LEAST SANDPIPER were seen 
at Horseshoe Pond in Concord on May 24th.



4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and a LEAST SANDPIPER were seen in Walpole on May 
26th.



5 DUNLIN, 30 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 4 LEAST SANDPIPERS, and 19 
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were seen on the Connecticut River in Hanover on May 
24th.



Several YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS were reported during 
the past week.



Several YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS and PHILADELPHIA VIREOS were reported 
during the past week.



101 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen migrating at Powder Mill Pond in Hancock, 
and about 20 were seen migrating in Boscawen, all on May 28th. About 20 were 
reported from Lee on May 27th.



An estimated 100 BLACK SCOTERS were seen migrating at Powder Mill Pond in 
Hancock on May 28th, and 9 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen at Upper Baker 
Lake in Orford on May 26th.
