Spotted a little brown butterfly flitting about the trees at Centerra in
Lebanon today that I think was an elfin of some sort. I was able to get
a close look (within two feet!) but it was against the sun and I've
never managed to track down an elfin before, so I'm not sure that's what
it was.
The little guy wasn't a skipper, was about the size of a hairstreak, sat
with his wings closed over his back, and was brown with lighter spots
primarily on the hind-wing (underside). I'd say the lighter spots were
rounded, about four or five, but the lighting was very poor, so I can't
be sure.

Of course the cell phone was sitting on my desk, where it was no help at
all to take a picture. Any thoughts what it could be?
An attempt to get a better look at him caused him to fly away, and five
to ten minutes poking around the bushes and trees didn't find him a
second time.
