Some odds and ends on the avian front.

Tuesday recorded at home eighteen american robins passing through.

Wednesday there was a juvenile common loon on Post Pond. A pair of loons successfully raised one chick this season at this location. This may have been it but did not see the parents anywhere.

Thursday at home, a brown creeper on a maple close to the house and two common ravens that noisily passed overhead. Ravens have been regular visitors to the neighborhood as has a pileated woodpecker. Earlier in the day a flock of a dozen wild turkeys was seen feeding in a field adjacent to NH Rt. 10 near the Orford/Lyme line. Another flock of 15 was seen in a neighbor's field on Whipple Hill Rd.

Friday walked River Road from Parsons farm to Breck Hill Road's intersection with N. Thetford Rd. Eighteen species seen. Best sightings were an immature bald eagle and an american kestrel. Other than a couple of yellow-rumps, the other species were "usual suspects" for this time of year. Crows, blue jays, chickadees, etc.,Also did record a couple of juncos. First of season.
