Saturday April 18, 6:30 to 9 AM: Birding along the Connecticut River
in Hanover and Lyme.
Meet at Dartmouth Printing on Route 10 in Hanover to carpool northward
along the river to Grant's Brook. Arranged by Mascoma Chapter of New
Hampshire Audubon, the Hanover Conservancy, and the Upper Valley Land
Trust. Special thanks to Dartmouth Printing for parking authorization
for this event.
Tuesday April 21, 7:15 to 9 PM: Woodcock display watch. Meet at Kendal
in Hanover to carpool to display area. Cosponsored by Mascoma Chapter
of New Hampshire Audubon and the Kendal Bird Club.
Thursday April 23:
Woodcock Walk & Talk
The woodcock's "singing fields" and brushy habitat also benefit other
wildlife and can be managed right in your backyard. At 4pm, tour the
Slade Brook Easement and Huntington Hill Management Area with Dave
Falkenham, Grafton Co. Forester, and John Lanier of the Northeast
Woodcock Initiative. Stay for refreshments, and at twilight see the
aerial courtship display of this amazing little migratory bird. Slade
Brook Farm, 494 Hanover Center Rd, Etna. Reservations requested but
not required. RSVP to Jim Kennedy, 603-643-6446.
Special thanks to Jim Kennedy for providing information on this part
of the program.
For those who not attending the program beginning at 4 PM, an evening
group is to leave Kendal at Hanover at 7:15 PM to carpool to the
woodcock display grounds. Return by 9 PM. This evening group has been
arranged by Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon and the Kendal
Bird Club.
