This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 22nd, 
2011.



An ATLANTIC PUFFIN and a CASPIAN TERN were reported from Seavey Island, one 
of the Isles of Shoals, on June 18th.



2 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS were seen briefly at the Rochester Wastewater 
Treatment Plant on June 17th, but left not long after they were discovered. 
An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was seen near Rye Ledge in Rye on June 18th.



A CLAPPER RAIL and several SALTMARSH SPARROWS were reported from Hampton 
Marsh behind Little Jack's restaurant on Route 1A on June 21st.



An ICELAND GULL was reported from Hampton Harbor on June 18th.



11 ROSEATE TERNS were reported from the entrance to Hampton Harbor on June 
18th.



A survey of COMMON TERN nests on Seavey Island and White Island, 2 of the 
Isles of Shoals, tallied 2,447 nests on June 18th.



Highlights from a tri-state pelagic trip held on June 20th, included a 
NORTHERN FULMAR, 4 LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS, and a SOOTY SHEARWATER.



2 NELSON'S SPARROWS were reported from the marsh located at the end of 
Pollock Road in Rye on June 21st, and one was reported from a marsh along 
Route 1A near the North Hampton and Rye town line on June 18th.



2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were seen along the Little Cherry Pond trail at 
the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on June 17th, and one 
was reported from an earlier date near Mud Pond, also at Pondicherry NWR. A 
BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen at Mount Magalloway in Pittsburg on May 
20th.



A CAPE MAY WARBLER was seen in Pittsfield on June 17th.



A CANADA WARBLER was reported from Epping on June 19th.



An ORCHARD ORIOLE was reported from Dover on June 18th.



2 EVENING GROSBEAKS were heard in Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham on 
June 19th.



WHIP-POOR-WILLS were heard in West Rumney, Madison, and Goffstown during the 
past week.



5 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were reported from Hanover on June 14th, and 1 was seen 
in Madison on the 15th. A COMMON NIGHTHAWK nest was reported from Ossipee, 
and breeding activity has been observed in Concord, all during the past 
week.



A FISH CROW was reported from Durham on June 20th, and one was reported from 
Portsmouth on the 22nd.



There was an unconfirmed report of 4 SANDHILL CRANES from Lower Gilmanton 
during the past week.



There was a possible sighting of a SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER in North Conway 
on June 16th and 17th near the Paris Farmer's Union on Route 302. Birders 
are encouraged to keep an eye out in this area.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Hampton on June 17th.



The PEREGRINE FALCONS that are nesting on the Brady-Sullivan building in 
Manchester are now feeding young. Check this link to webcam access:
