This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 1st, 
2011.



A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was observed flying by, and then landing on a whale 
watch cruise boat, which it rode back to Rye Harbor, and then flew to some 
nearby trees, on May 28th.



A WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE was heard several times and possibly seen at Rye Harbor 
State Park on May 29th, but was only reported by one birder and not 
relocated.



A male immature KING EIDER was seen in Rye Harbor on May 28th, and then 
relocated at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on May 30th.



An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was seen at Ragged Neck in Rye on May 26th.



2 MARBLED GODWITS were seen along the Connecticut River in the Upper Valley 
on May 30th.



A CLAPPER RAIL was reported from Hampton Marsh behind Little Jack's 
restaurant on Route 1A on May 27th.



A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT and a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO were reported from along 
Moharinet Way, and a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from Fogg Drive, all 
in Durham on May 29th.



2 CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS were reported from Arboretum Drive in Newington on 
May 30th.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen at Mirror Lake in Center Tuftonboro on May 31st.



An ICELAND GULL was reported from Hampton Marsh on May 30th.



25 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were tallied along the coast on May 30th.



A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, a SOOTY SHEARWATER, 240 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, and 
22 NORTHERN GANNETS were seen from the Granite State Whale Watch boat out of 
Rye Harbor on May 28th, and a BLACK GUILLEMOT was seen in Rye Harbor on May 
31st.



10 ROSEATE TERNS, 6 ARCTIC TERNS, and 4,000 COMMON TERNS were reported from 
where they nest on Seavey Island, one of the Isles of Shoals, on May 28th.



A single BRANT was reported from Pleasant Lake in New London on May 31st.



A male SPRUCE GROUSE was seen on the Webster Cliff Trail, and 2 GRAY JAYS 
were seen on the Crawford Path, both in Crawford Notch on May 27th.



A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS was seen at Little Cherry Pond in the 
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on May 21st, and one was 
seen on East Inlet Road in Pittsburg on May 29th.



A BICKNELL'S THRUSH was heard on Star Island in the Isles of Shoals on May 
29th.



A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was seen in Rumney on May 29th, one was seen in 
Pittsfield on May 27th, and one was reported from Hancock on May 26th.



2 WHIP-POOR-WILLS were heard in Jefferson on May 25th.



30 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen migrating in Amherst on May 27th.



The PEREGRINE FALCONS that are nesting on the Brady-Sullivan building in 
Manchester now have hatched chicks. Check this link to webcam access:
