This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 17th, 
2009.



A ROYAL TERN was seen on the coast in Rye on June 10th.



A BLACK TERN was seen at Horseshoe Pond in Concord on June 14th, and one was 
seen along the coast in Rye on June 14th.



10 ROSEATE TERNS were seen in Hampton Harbor on June 10th.



4 MANX SHEARWATERS were seen along the coast at Seal Rocks in Rye on June 
10th.

115 NORTHERN GANNETS were tallied along the coast, also on the 10th.



A birder on a whale-watch trip out of Rye reported seeing several GREATER 
SHEARWATERS, and WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS on June 15th.



2 BRANT were seen in coastal Rye on June 14th.



A GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was reported from the Bellamy Wildlife Area in 
Dover, from the Spruce Lane Extension access on June 16th.



2 LAWRENCE'S WARBLERS were reported from Yudicky Farm/Southwest Park in 
Nashua on June 17th.



2 UPLAND SANDPIPERS were seen at the Pease International Tradeport on June 
10th.



Several SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS, and NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS 
were reported from Chapman's Landing in Stratham on June 13th.



A hiker on the Caps Ridge Trail off of Jefferson Notch Road reported 3 
BICKNELL'S THRUSHES, 2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS, a BOREAL CHICKADEE, 4 GRAY 
JAYS, a MERLIN, and 9 YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS on June 11th.



A weekend birder in Pittsburg reported a hen SPRUCE GROUSE with 5 chicks, a 
BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, several GRAY JAYS and BOREAL CHICKADEES, 
BAY-BREASTED and WILSON'S WARBLERS, as well as several PHILADELPHIA VIREOS, 
and a MERLIN on June 13th and 14th.



A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was reported from Crawford Notch on June 11th.



A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from the Exeter Town Forest off of 
Newfields Road on June 17th.



Over 40 BANK SWALLOWS were reported from the Saco River near West Side Road 
in North Conway on June 15th.



2 pairs of MISSISSIPPI KITES have been located in Newmarket near the same 2 
sites where they nested in 2008. 3 were seen from Route 152, near the school 
that is located a short distance west of Packers Falls Road, on June 16th.



A SANDHILL CRANE has returned to Monroe, where it has spent the breeding 
season for the last 10+ years running. It spends most of the day among the 
cows on the left side of Plains Road in the first fields that you come to. 
Sometimes it is found on the Vermont side of the river. It has not been 
reported recently.
