So, we found out that you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to find the birds!The Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon held its second evening walk at the Union Village Dam on Weds and identified 34 species.  Pretty much the usual suspects, with highlights being many Veery songs heard in various locations, the first Cedar Waxwings we've seen in a while, and a sputtering Canada Warbler that just didn't want to be seen.
Maybe, tho, the biggest highlight was no rain, and plenty of sunshine so you could actually see the colors!  About time....
