Kyle Jones and I found the Red Crossbills reported yesterday afternoon
by George Clark and Ed Hack. At ~8 am they were in the strip of Scotch
pines along the north shore of the pond, between the access area and
small pulloff on River Road. A female was with 2 full-grown juveniles,
feeding one of them. A surprising find at this time of year, after a
winter in which the species was virtually absent throughout Vermont.
