Among more than 55 bird species Chris Rimmer and I found this morning (June 2)
during a Vermont Breeding Bird Atlas trip in southern Hartland and northern
Windsor (VT), two highlights were 1) a pair of Yellow-throated Vireos (one of
which was singing) in open woodland in southeasternmost Hartland close to the
Connecticut River and 2) a singing Blue-winged Warbler seen along the east side
of County Road just north of the intersection with Weeden Hill Road in Windsor.

In the same southeasternmost Hartland area where we found the vireos, an
American Redstart nest held 4 eggs.

Today we found no Blue-winged or Golden-winged Warblers or their hybrids in the
vicinity of Marton and Pond Roads in Windsor, where both a Golden-winged and a
Brewster's hybrid warbler were found as recently as May 22. This morning in that
vicinity were a singing Nashville Warbler, a singing Magnolia Warbler, and a
female Canada Warbler, all three of those species being to the east of Marton
Road.
