This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, November 13th, 
2008.



A male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was discovered visiting a feeder in Plaistow on 
October 29th, and was last reported on November 11th. It was not seen on the 
12th, and appears to have moved on.



A CAVE SWALLOW was seen off of King's Highway in Hampton on November 9th, 
but has not been relocated. Another possible CAVE SWALLOW was reported from 
Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on the 11th. 4 TREE SWALLOWS were seen at 
Eel Pond in Rye on the 9th, and 3 possible BARN SWALLOWS were reported from 
North Hampton on the 11th.



A SNOWY OWL was seen on Crank Road in Hampton Falls on November 10th.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen at the Concord Community Gardens on Birch 
Street off of Clinton Street in Concord on November 7th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a PALM WARBLER were seen near the Rye and 
North Hampton town line along Route 1A on November 12th. An ORANGE-CROWNED 
WARBLER was also seen in the trees and shrubs adjacent to the dirt parking 
lot located off of Route 101 near the water tower in Hampton on the 8th. A 
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was seen in Concord on November 11th.



An immature NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen along Sheridan Road next to Garland 
Pond in Moultonborough on November11th.



A PECTORAL SANDPIPER, a WILSONS SNIPE, 200 HORNED LARKS, 12 AMERICAN PIPITS, 
and 6 SAVANNAH SPARROWS were seen at Chickering Farm in Westmoreland on 
November 9th.



200 DUNLIN, 10 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 15 SANDERLINGS, and 2 PURPLE 
SANDPIPERS were reported from Plaice Cove in Hampton on November 12th. 4 
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were seen here on the 9th.



200 HORNED LARKS, 20 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, 2 AMERICAN 
PIPITS, and a MERLIN were seen on Morrill Farm in Penacook on November 10th.



80 HORNED LARKS were seen at Moore Fields on Route 155A in Durham on 
November 9th.



35 SNOW BUNTINGS were reported from the Whitefield Airport, and 80 SNOW 
BUNTINGS were seen at Wallis Sands in Rye, all on November 11th.



64 SNOW GEESE and 9 BUFFLEHEADS were seen on Cherry Pond in Jefferson on 
November 11th.



6 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 14 RUDDY DUCKS, 16 GREEN-WINGED TEAL and an AMERICAN 
COOT were reported from the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on November 
12th.



15 RUDDY DUCKS, 14 AMERICAN COOTS, 15 PIED-BILLED GREBES and an AMERICAN 
WIGEON were seen at Powwow Pond in Kingston on November 12th.



35 RING-NECKED DUCKS were reported from Durgin Pond in East Madison, and 
over 20 more were reported from Pequawket Pond in Conway, all on November 
11th.



A HORNED GREBE was seen in Brindle Pond in Barnstead, and a RED-NECKED GREBE 
was seen in Wilson Pond in Swanzey, both on November 8th. 3 HORNED GREBES 
were seen on Spofford Lake on the 9th.



A LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen at Ledyard Bridge on the Connecticut River in 
Hanover on November 9th.



WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL sightings during the past week included 10 in Hancock 
on November 13th, 16 in Moultonborough on the 11th, 6 in Jefferson on the 
10th, 1 in Stoddard on the 10th, 20 in Amherst on the 9th, 9 in Hampton on 
the 9th, 30 in Strafford on the 8th, and 40 in Surry on the 8th.



4 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen in Nelson on November 9th.



PINE SISKINS continue to be reported from scattered locations around the 
state during the past week.



Over 2,500 AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES were tallied migrating south along the coast 
on November 11th.



A female BALTIMORE ORIOLE was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on 
November 11th.
