Have had a flock of about 16 Eve Gbkıs for about 10 days (they are
typically here all winter, but arrived a bit late this year). Like
everyone else more than the usual quantity of juncos since Thanksgiving.
Fewer chickadees but several here as well as year-round Blue Jays and
Mourning Doves. Red & White Breasted Nuthatches scarce, but present. Downy
& Hairys also less frequent visitors but regular. We live on forest land
adjacent to Downer State Forest in Sharon and South Strafford. Our
neighbor on south side in Sharon did a good deal of logging last year and
our neighbor on the north side of our property in South Strafford did
quite a bit of logging this fall and so we suspect these activities have
influenced the situation. No tufted titmice this year. Flocks of
goldfinches come and go but are quite regularly here. First purple finch
of the year today. Last winterıs single male and female cardinal not
around this year. Have not had redpolls for 4th year running, though they
were regulars for many years prior. Ian Baldwin, South Strafford VT
